Vancouver says to me he's getting this guitar for free.... because it came broke from the seller. FedEx broke it. so the guy who quoted the repair wrote 400 on the quote rather than the 80 he is going to charge him. “so its like I'm getting the guitar for free man, isn't that great?!”

Yea sure man. Hate to always sound like the older-brother-voice-of-reason here, but what are you going to say to your children? What dude? What do you mean by that? you know man, what are you going to say to your children? When? I don't have children; I'm 22. Yea but when you do, I said. Huh? He looked at me confused. What are you going to say to your children the first time they get ripped off or cheated or lied to in their life? are you going to explain to them that its o.k. that someone ripped them off or cheated them or lied to them because their daddy does it all the time and so does everyone else? so prepare yourself kids for all the assholes out there like your own fucking father who thinks lying and ripping other people off is a good thing?!!!! Are you going to raise them to be liars and cheaters and thieves like you are, just because you want to get some guitar for free? Hey its up to you. I'm just wondering what kind of guy I'm in a band with, cause it doesn’t sound too transcendent to me bro... or... maybe you’re going to rip that phony quote up that asshole gave you and be honest with FedEx so we can all start to breathe a little easier in this God forsaken fucking cruel world? He started protesting.... Hey man, it wasn't my idea. It was the repair guy’s idea. Yea I'm sure it was. That's because he makes no money, drives a shitty car, prob watches a lot of TV and spends his while life complaining about people that make more money than he does so rather than doing something about it, every chance he gets he rips people off, lies, cheats, writes phony quotes for his customers so they can rip other people off. He wants you to share in his misery man. He wants you to be a part of that bullshit that so many humans are always doing to their fellow man. So who are you man? Are you one of them? Or are you one of us? Are you on the way? or are you in the way? That's what I ask you. O.k. enough of that. lets play some music. I did not have to ask which receipt Vancouver turned into the claims department of FedEx today. And frankly, now, its none of my business.

Driving home tonight I'm thinking of this whole thing. The little white lie. V says to me tell such and such club that our drummer is sick so we can take the gig at the other club. I'm like bro that would be a lie. He looks at me like I'm from another planet. Like if you don't want to lie there is something seriously wrong with you. I almost start thinking to myself, maybe there is something wrong with me. should I feel alright lying about stuff like that? I shook it off. nah man, I had my share of lying back in the day. like anyone else. I just think its something you have to come to on your own, in your own time. getting honest. Getting real. Whatever you call it. just deciding that you're not going to do it anymore. So what if everyone else does. some people never get to it. they think its o.k. big lies, little lies. Whatever. They never hit that point where they realize what's going on in the bigger picture. And you can see it. you can see it in people. you can tell when you meet someone or when you know someone who has that in them or not. Its like a bug that people have in them. The lying bug. The liars bug. People either lie or they don't lie. And you can tell in a heartbeat which kind of people someone is. There are people who will lie to you. they tell you about other lies they tell other people, oh I told such and such that I had to study.... so you can be rest assured that they’ve lied to you and will lie to you again if they're lying to others. And these are the kind of people you don't want around you. At all. Ever.

You can also tell when you are in the presence of someone who doesn’t lie. Not even little white lies. They're simply beyond it. its not in them. They’re bigger than that. Rare. But you meet them. Beaver’s like that. He just can’t lie. Won't lie. He’ll get all uncomfortable about something. Even clam up. But he won't lie to you. You can trust people like that. You surround yourself with people like that. You do your best to fill your life with them over a period of years and years and years. And its not easy. Because they are the minority. They are a rare breed. You get a handful of them as your friends in one lifetime and you are a lucky person.

Thinking more about it and laughing to myself on my way home. Man it isn't easy not to lie, especially them itty bitty ones. You can try to put it into practice for years and years and its not easy. Humanity is not a fully realized invention yet. I don't know if it ever will be. This is still a vision, our full evolution. We still have some kinks to work out. Someone asks you to do something. Its so easy to email them back some oh I'm busy doing this type of response or oh yea my brother coming into town or I wasn't feeling well or there are so many... and the thing is that everyone is prone to doing it at some time or another. Its gotta make you laugh. Its just so funny because when you try to just not do it at all, you really have to be creative to master it. No lies. And no hurting other peoples feelings either. You become a Jedi. You are working at perfecting yourself, and becoming a Buddha.

Last Screening: the kid stays in the picture, by Robert Evans. Fantastic movie. Strong black coffee. No. stronger whiskey. Straight. Great movie. Great story teller. This is a must see if you're an ambitious person. or if you just like Hollywood. a classic.
