I am in New York this weekend, apartment hunting. I scored a roundtrip ticket and two nights at the Waldorf Astoria for less than $600. Part of me wants to keep this a secret, because its just so damn special, this whole Travelocity.com weekend getaway thing... where they offer amazing deals on flight/hotel combo packages. But I'll let the cat out of the bag, whatever the hell that means. Often times you can get the flight and hotel for less than the price of the flight on its own. Last weekend was the same. I also just scored round trip airfare and a week at a hotel in the center of Paris for $569. For another $200 I got another week. [Granted, these are two star hotels, but they will do] I will spend two weeks there at a school studying French after our shows in Atlanta, and before our shows in NY. Don't say no one gave you the heads up. Great deals can be found out there with how competitive travel is now. You can live like a king on a pauper’s ransom. It’s awesome.

The best idea I have had so far is to put everything I own into storage and just travel around for a while. just go from place to place. Been speaking to Giovanna lately. Turns out she is moving from Rome to Egypt to open up a café. May go hang out with her a few days.

The most amazing dinner tonight at the waldorf. the best one I have had in recent memory. Beef tenderloins, cheese crusted mashed potatoes, sautéed artichokes, roasted vegetables, and a pinot noir to wash it all down. God it was good.

A brilliant haircut by Federico at John sahag. Hadn't seen him in over a year. He is Italian so I told him about my trip to Italy last year to trace the roots of my family, hopping in planes, trains, and taxi cabs going from town to town all over the country meeting people and introducing myself and asking them about my family and all. He says it sounded like an American movie. Indeed it does. “Hey. And you coming over here from Italy to be a world famous hair stylist in new York city sounds like a movie,” I tell him. “And look at this, you made it.”

I went to central park to smoke and write tonight because there is a smoking ban in the entire city now. you can’t smoke anywhere in public. I can understand cigarettes of course, but cigars? The nerve. Anyway, I did find a few groovy smokers lounges where men go to smoke and drink. That was cool. but I wanted some fresh air with my smoke. So I hit the park. At night. with all the homeless people. There was this hunched over old black guy on the bench sitting about ten feet away from me. I called to him, ‘should I be scared? Sitting here?’ “How do I know? I'm not.” “Yeah but you're black. And from what it looks like, poor. I'm white and middle class. We’re scared of everything” “Aint you something. asking me that.” “Look man, I'm just asking, is it safe or not? If I'm going to whip out a laptop and start smoking and writing and relax here, I want to make sure that one of ya’ll isn't going to jump me in five minutes. You know, with all due respect and all.” “Man you’s crazy. You aint from here, that's for sure? Where you from?” “I live in Miami right now. I'm moving back here now. Ten years ago, you'd never sit in central park at night with your computer on your lap.” “You probly shouldn’t be doing it now. But you do what you want. I'll watch out for ya.” “Thanks man.” Passersby keep staring at me like who the fuck is that white kid sitting on the benches with his laptop with all those homeless guys... is he just crazy? no one knows what to think. But the Transcendence Diaries don't sleep. They just keep going and going.

Still Wondering Why Occupy?

Started keeping a list of all the things that are still wrong, compromised or challenged in the United States. We've made plenty of progress in our short 230 years as a nation. But we've also got plenty of miles to go. Just when you thought it might be safe to go back in the water... DUN NUH! Big sharks, better known as "banks", are circling once again and once again surround us. Giant, merciless, ferocious, and heartless, it is hard to believe that these anti-human machines of greed gain and profit had the nerve to borrow money from the same people they fork and gouge on a daily basis to bail them out of bankruptcy. They wouldn't have done it for any one of American's citizenry. Not one. And that my friends is the core and crux of the problem. One of them at least.
We already know the details of the meltdown (if you don't, then look it up -- Google "Matt Taibai", for he's single-handedly written some of the most elucidating and insightful pieces about it over the last four years). At the center of the collapse, as Mike Ruppert calls what's coming economically for America due to these shenanigans that led up to the big crash of '08, was a banking and financial system that deliberately lied cheated deceived defrauded extorted blackmailed and swindled just about everyone on planet earth, including themselves, for short term profits, knowing full well that eventually the dam would break and all hell would break loose. But just in case we lose the point of the matter, they may shield themselves from personal responsibility through corporate loopholes and fancy names like Goldman Sachs or Lehman Brothers et al. but these were living breathing human beings running these companies. The decisions that were made that destroyed the fabric of the great American Dream for 99% of the populace were made by people just like us.

Conspiracies Yes. Theories No

I can't recall how many times I have heard people refer to the dissemination of what's really happening in the world today in regards to the global elite and the so called New World Order as "conspiracy theories". Countless times. Obviously. The problem is that you can't call something happening right in front of your face a "theory". Conspiracies? Yes. Theories? Not even close. Not any longer.
I was first introduced to the idea that everything we see, hear and read in our mainstream day to day lives might not be the whole truth and nothing but the truth when I was around 19 years old from what I can remember. On my way to sound-check for a show we were doing one night down on South Beach. I see it as fate now. Because I have learned so much since those days. But back then it was just curiosity. I didn't yet see the connection of everything and all things, how they all tie into each other. I looked down and noticed a strange and slightly disfigured picture of the Pope on a soaking wet, wrinkled up and sun ravaged pamphlet in a mud puddle on the ground. I was raised Catholic, and although at that time I was exploring many other religions of the world including atheism (yes that is most certainly a religion) and humanism, I certainly didn't know anything about the so called "Catholic Church" being the least bit "evil". Silly, unnecessary and man-made, yes. But not inherently and deliberately evil.
Now of course after many years of study, like anyone over the age of 21, I've come to realize that "The Church" as they arrogantly call themselves was nothing but a ruse, the declining Roman Empire disguising itself as a religious institution in order to use the fear of a God in order to continue to control the populace as they had for five centuries prior.

Understanding America's Problem with Iran

It has always been difficult for any citizen of earth to know for sure what the underlying truth is behind any geopolitical event that involves the country they live in. Such is side effect of "government", almost like an automated mechanism of government, whether dictatorship or elected; the only thing one can rely on is that the official story they hear regarding just about anything of significance from their government is usually fraught with deception and misdirection. Anyone over the age of 12 recognizes this sad fact of life on earth at this time in our specie's short history. Nine times out of ten there is always a far more sinister reason or cause behind almost everything that transpires around us; if it involves our government that is. Iraq and those mysteriously vanishing WMDs is just one of the many great examples of this. So too is the current situation with Iran and their alleged "evil plot to overthrow the world with their nuclear weapons".
The United States citizenry for whatever reason has a reputation around the world for being the most out of touch with reality and ignorant world affairs or even of what's "really" happening in their own country. Maybe it's the people. Maybe it's just that the government of the U.S. is the best at manipulating facts, distorting the truth and blackmailing the mainstream media. Who knows really? But regardless of how many times the American people have been flat out lied to by their government -- think the assassination of JFK, MLK and RFK or the Gulf of Tonkin story -- most American people still take their government's word for it anyway and then go about their business. Sometimes one conjectures this might be more due to an underlying feeling of helplessness, rather than sheer ignorance. A fear that there is nothing they can do to changes things even though they know "the truth", and worse, a fear that if they did attempt to do something that they could endanger their life or the lives of their loved ones. After all, the United States government has never been shy about using brute force, fabricated criminal charges, economic terrorism or any other means necessary to shut up dissenters, no matter how upstanding a citizen that person might be. So rather than admitting that there just might be more to what really happened on 9/11 for example, it is easier for average Joe to play dumb, keep quiet and go about with his day to day life. THIS was the inspiration for the theme of the song "Blind Eye" from the Transcendence album All Your Heroes Become Villains.
On the other hand, with the advent of independent media, one could also assert that more and more
