Today I received a call from a drummer I jammed with that just got Sleep With You. said he was calling to tell me that he sat and cried when he heard the song "Junkie" because he was so moved. Which was just mind-blowing and here's why. It was the third person who had told me that about this new album in the last month, but each one with a different song. First with "Guilty," then with "Keep Moving On," and now with "Junkie." It just really made me feel good. cause maybe we fucking did it this time.

Here's the deal: since my first album when I was a snotty16-year-old kid who knew nothing about what I was doing and couldn’t barely play an instrument, I loved what I was making. I loved my songs. It wasn't like I look back and go oh this album is good and these before it weren't. I mean I'm a huge fan of the first album and every one since then. And Rise and Shine still blows me away when I listen to it. I really can’t believe that I was a part in creating that album. I love it. What I mean by us really doing it this time is that maybe we created something that a lot of people are going to be as moved by as we are. Like maybe just cosmically everything will come together we’ll be on the same page as a lot of people at the same time. Which will be great, because I really need to make some money to justify continuing to spend all my money time and resources on creating music. (Is this true? Does an artist really need to justify their art? Or is the art justification enough regardless of the reception it receives?)

This is just truly strange:
